What is Tally Virtual User?

Tally has made its biggest change to user licensing policy in three decades with the introduction of Tally Virtual User (TVU).

With TVU, Tally Solutions officially steps into the new virtual world, simplifying and authorizing the use of Tally on the cloud. As cloud adoption accelerates globally, Tally is embracing this shift by offering a more streamlined and compliant way to use its software.

Previously, Tally ERP 9 was used via RDP or VPN, but this was not officially endorsed or authorized. The introduction of TVU corrects this and provides a legitimate, cloud-friendly solution for users.

Tally Virtual User Benefits

  • Customers now have the assurance of defined guidelines from Tally Solutions for using Tally through VPN, RDP, or similar technologies.
  • Tally customers already using Tally via RDP or VPN can transition to Tally Virtual User (TVU) free of cost until March 31, 2021.
  • New users who start using Tally in a virtual environment via RDP or VPN will receive TVU free of charge until September 30, 2020.
  • Customers can now choose the most suitable method to access Tally based on their specific business needs and scenarios.
  • Going forward, customers will receive official support for configuring and troubleshooting in virtual environments, addressing a key area of previous customer dissatisfaction.
  • Multi-locational businesses can operate with a single license instead of procuring separate licenses for each location. Tally Solutions can recommend the best option based on the business scenario.
  • Tally can now remain always on, allowing customers easier and continuous access around the clock.
  • By default, all Tally ERP 9 Gold customers now receive 10 Tally Virtual Users, 10 Tally remote users, and 10 users for web reports, significantly enhancing their user capacity.

Tally Virtual User License

The introduction of the Tally Virtual User (TVU) License now provides authorized access and support under the Tally Virtual User Pack. This product is applicable to both existing Tally virtual users (such as Tally on Cloud users, RDP, Citrix users, and similar technologies) and customers interested in using Tally in a virtual environment.

As per the new policy, every user of Tally is subject to a charge.

  • TallyPrime Silver License: Customers who purchase a TallyPrime Silver license will receive one TVU pack by default, valid for the lifetime of the customer.

  • TallyPrime Gold License: Customers who purchase a TallyPrime Gold license will receive 10 TVU packs by default, also valid for the lifetime of the customer. TallyPrime Gold users have the option to purchase additional TVU packs, up to a maximum of 999 TVU packs.

  • Tally Server 9: With the purchase of Tally Server 9, customers will automatically receive 20 additional TVU packs, valid for the product’s lifetime. Due to the integration of Tally Server 9 with TallyPrime, it is not possible to purchase separate TVU packs specifically for Tally Server 9. The TVU packs for Tally Server 9 are bundled with those of TallyPrime Gold.

  • Purchasing Additional TVU Packs: Customers with a TallyPrime Gold license can purchase additional TVU packs, but this option is not available for TallyPrime Silver license holders. In India, additional TVU packs can be purchased at a cost of ₹225 per month (billed annually). Each TVU pack has a validity of 12 months and must be renewed annually.

What is a TVU Licence?
